Hi, I’m Louise Chapman, MA, LPC, NCC
Therapist & Founder, Open Skies Therapy
Welcome
I’m so glad you’re here.
Open Skies Therapy was created to be a place where therapy feels safe, supportive, and human — where you can take a breath, share your story, and discover new ways forward. Whether in the office, online, or surrounded by nature and animals, my goal is to create space for every season of life.

Our Philosophy.
Open Skies Therapy was created with a simple belief: therapy should feel safe, supportive, and approachable. Many people imagine counseling as clinical or intimidating — we wanted something different.
Our work is rooted in evidence-based approaches such as Play Therapy, CBT, DBT, Expressive Arts, and Trauma-Focused CBT, but it is never one-size-fits-all. These methods provide structure and tools, while the heart of our work is building authentic connection and honoring each client’s unique story.
We also believe that the environment matters. That’s why sessions are not limited to a traditional therapy room — they may take place in a quiet office, over secure telehealth, or in a restorative farm setting surrounded by animals and nature. This freedom allows each person to find the space where they feel most grounded and open to growth.
Inspired by the openness of the skies, our guiding philosophy is simple: therapy should create room for honesty, connection, and the freedom to grow.
My Experience & Approach
I’m Louise Chapman, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and Colorado, and a National Certified Counselor. I hold a Master of Arts in Human Development and Counseling from The George Washington University, with training in DBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, Play Therapy, and expressive arts interventions.
I’ve supported children, teens, adults, and families in schools, hospitals, community programs, intensive outpatient care, and private practice. These experiences have taught me that healing looks different for everyone — and that therapy works best when it is both structured and flexible, rooted in evidence while responsive to each person’s unique needs.
With children and teens, I often draw on play, art, and nature-based approaches to encourage emotional growth and resilience. With adults, I integrate DBT, mindfulness, and trauma-informed tools to reduce distress and strengthen coping. For families, I create a collaborative space to build healthier communication and connections at home.
I founded Open Skies Therapy to offer something different from traditional clinical settings — a practice that feels safe, human, and connected to real life. Whether in a quiet office, over telehealth, or outdoors surrounded by animals and nature, my goal is to meet clients where they are and create space for honesty, resilience, and growth. My hope is that Open Skies feels like a place wide open, like the sky itself — a space for every season of life.
